Day 1 IMMERSING INTO ALTAI
Meeting in Barnaul. Transfer Barnaul – Biysk (170 km) – a city built by the decree of the emperor of Russia Peter the Great in the 18th century. Biysk now has the status of the City of science and it is the main gateway to the Altai Mountains. Walk through the old city streets with a visit to the Monument to Peter the Great. Lunch. Transfer Biysk – Polevodka (30 km). Excursion to ethnopark “Altai. History of Russia”, where you will see the White Shaman, the Main Tambourine of Altai and the Golden Baba, a symbol of the well-being of the local indigenous people. Transfer Polevodka – Srostki (15 km), a birthplace of Vasily Shukshin, the famous writer, actor and film director. Transfer Srostki – Gorno-Altaisk. Sightseeing city tour with a visit to the observation deck. Transfer Gorno-Altaisk – Artybash (170 km). Ascent by chair-lift to the mountain Kokuya. Dinner. Accommodation in a tourist complex.

Day 2 GOLDEN LAKE - THE CROWN JEWEL OF UNESCO
Breakfast. Boat trip around the Teletskoye Lake – the largest lake in Altai and one of the largest lakes in Russia. The maximum depth of the lake is about 330 meters. Local people call the lake Altyn-Kol, which means “Golden lake”. Many rivers and streams flow into the lake, but only one river – Biya – flows out. A visit to the Altaian State Biosphere Reserve and Korbu Waterfall (12.5 meters high) and picturesque whaterfall Chedor. On the way back – viewing waterfall Kishte, foreland Airan, Kamginskiy bay and reserve village Yaylyu from the boat. Trekking along the Eco-Trail “Third River” (depends on the weather). Visit to Ethno Park in Artybash village, tasting of national cuisine. Dinner.

Day 3 PRINCESS OF UKOK
Breakfast. Transfer Teletskoye Lake – Gorno-Altaisk (170 km). Excursion to the National Museum of the Altai Republic named after A.V. Anokhin. The Museum has large ethnographic collections of Altaian indigenous people and also displays the unique artifact – the mummy of Princess of Ukok. Lunch. Visit to the center of Altaian crafts: exhibition of felt products and tea-party a-la Altai. Folklore program – unique throat singing and playing national musical instruments. Transfer Maima – Turquoise Katun (45 km) – the largest tourism center, which includes a warm artificial lake for swimming and fishing, restaurants, tourist complexes, ski slopes, an extreme entertainment park, art gallery, an array of Tavdinsky caves, an apiary. Visiting Tavdinsky caves – a bright attraction of the Altai Territory. The entire cave complex has several dozen caves, many of which have several entrances and are connected to each other, forming a large interconnected system in which it is easy to get lost. Tavdinsky caves are known for the fact that at different times they served as housing for humans. During excavations, pottery and other archaeological findings dating back to the early Iron and Bronze Ages were discovered in them. Excursion to the apiary, tasting of Altaian honey, sleeping on bee hives. Transfer to the tourist complex. Accommodation. Dinner.

Day 4 TRY OUT YOURSELF
Breakfast. Excursion to Chemal (70 km), to Patmos Island – one of the most beautiful places in the Altai Mountains. The only way to the island is through the suspension bridge that connects rocks of the island with the rocks on the bank of the Katun river. There are a restored church commemorating St. John the Evangelist and the monastic cell of St. Makary Altaisky behind which you can see the rock with the indented image of Holy Mother. A walk along the “goat’s path” – a narrow path with a great view of the confluence of the rivers Chemal and Katun, as well as of Katun itself, flowing between rocky ledges. Lunch. Depending on the weather – rafting or motorafting on the Katun river (recommended: proper clothes and shoes) with a visit to Kamishlinskiy waterfall (consists of two cascades 12 m high). Returning to the tourist complex Dinner.

Day 5 CHUYSKY TRACT - THE ROAD OF THE TIMES
Breakfast. Transfer Lower Katun – Karakol (190 km). Excursion to “Uch-Enmek” Nature Park in Karakol Valley. This park includes natural, historical, cultural and sacral complexes and objects: barrows, cave paintings, complexes of megaliths. The excursion shows the Altaian culture and its cosmogony. Lunch. Transfer Karakol – Chibit (170 km). Driving along the Chuisky tract to the Kurai steppe.The history of the tract stretches back through centuries, when it was a pack road, a branch of the Great Silk Road, a “Chinese path”. The Chuisky Tract is included in the TOP-10 of the most beautiful roads in the world according to National Geographic. On the way we cross one of the biggest passes – Chike-Taman Pass (1460 m), which in Altaian language means ‘Flat foot’. The pass has been known since 10th century. Now it is an abrupt serpentine road with the view point on the top. Accommodation. Dinner.

Day 6 ALTAI – ALTERNATIVE DIMENTION
Breakfast. Excursion to Kyzyl-Chin that tourists call Mars (90 km). On the way photosession with the North-Chuysky ridge on the background. Walk along the “Martian” mountains and kanyons of the Kyzyl-Chin stream. Exits of multi-colored clays on the surface evoke the sensation of another planet. Lunch. Transfer Kyzyl-Chin – Geyser lake – rare in its beauty and purity. The lake is nonfreezing even in the winter time. It is an “earth eye eternally watching the space” that has amazing turquois сolour. You can see the round or oval blotchiness on the mirror surface of the lake that reflect the processes that happen at the bottom, where geysers come to life and spurt out the mixture of bluish clay and sand to the surface. Returning to the tourist complex. Dinner.

Day 7 ALTAI - PLACES OF POWER
Breakfast. Transfer Chibit – Lower Katun (320 km). On the way a stop at Kalbak-Tash boundary, where we will see the petroglyphic drawings. About 500 complexes, that count more than 5 thousands pictures. These drawings were made during the period from the New Stone Age to Turkic Age. The monument is situated on the right bank of the river Chuya. Photo-stop in the Northern part of geopark “Altai”, Chui-Oozy – the confluence of the biggest Altai rivers Chuya and Katun. On the way, a stop at the Seminsky pass (1717 m) – one of the highest passes of the Chuysky tract. The pass, covered by the centuries-old “bearded” cedars, is a kind of transition to the untouched nature of Central Altai. Lunch. Accommodation at a tourist complex. Dinner with an ethnographic program in Russian traditions.

Day 8 TASTE ALTAI
Breakfast. Trekking to the rock “The Thumb of the Devil”, which got its name thanks to a very peculiar ledge resembling a thumb. Transfer Lower Katun – Altaiskoye (70 km). Visit to the arboretum “Kholmogorye” – a very popular park among eco-tourists. A walk among deciduous and coniferous greenery, decorated by landscape designers is the best rest from the hustle and bustle. Gastro-botanic show. All products have the status of “environmentally friendly”. For example, flour is made of grain grown in park’s own fields, where chemical fertilizers have never been used. Fresh meat and fish are bought from farms at the Altai foothills. Transfer Altaiskoye – Belokurikha (50 km). The resort is known for its healing air and radon-containing springs. Sightseeing excursion around the city. Transfer Belokurikha – Novotyryshkino (20 km). Accommodation in tourist complex.
On request: Russian sauna in the complex Altai Sanduny. A visit to the bath is a special ritual. After a hot steam bath, you can plunge into the ice plunge tub, and then rejuvenate in a hot tub in a decoction of oregano, eucalyptus and chamomile.

Day 9 VISITING THE OLD BELIEVERS
Breakfast. Transfer Novotiyryshkino – Sibiryachikha (130 km). Folkloric and gastronomic excursion “Winding the bride”. A fascinating tour to the museum in the village of Sibiryachikha with an immersion into the daily life and traditions of the rural back-settlers, including dressing up all the guests in the traditional costumes of Old Believers. The ritual “Winding the bride” (wedding) of the Poles (the rame of Old Believers) is held in a stylized hut. The roles of the groom, bride, parents, and friends are to be fulfilled by the guests of the holiday. Traditional wedding dishes will delight all the participants with their originality and variety of tastes. Exact copies of costumes, songs and games create a time-shift effect. Transfer Sibiryachikha – Solonovka (100 km) – a village founded by Old Believers and Russian back-settlers, known as a point of attraction for paragliders and a private cheese factory. Lunch in Kerzhak traditions “Lenten cuisine of the Old Believers”. Transfer Solonovka – Novotyryshkino (30 km). Dinner.
